How many times can you say the word “house?” Wednesday night sees Loved Ones frontman and newly minted acoustic troubadour Dave Hause playing a free show at Drexel University’s Armory for the House Industries exhibition. Moreso, Hause and House have teamed up for Hause’s new solo 7”, obviously titled House.

Rocky Votolato has been around the block a few times, and by block I mean the expansive United States of America. In his more than ten years of songwriting and over the course of six full-length albums–which have been sanctuary for a sordid an honest picture of America–he's explored the ins and outs of everything from twangy alt.country to folkier finger-picked guitars, with a singer-songwriter always at the marrow. It's been a few years since The Brag & Cuss (Barsuk, 2007) and that's not just happenstance. Rocky took a bit of a break from touring to really focus on what life means to him, and in that process, he came out with True Devotion, which was released on the Barsuk label on February 23, 2010. The album sees him getting back to his stripped down self, both in the music and subject matter.
When it was announced that Brian Fallon would be making a quick stop at the Church on a brief acoustic run, it was almost too obvious that it would be the hottest ticket in town on that Sunday night. It was. Packed to the brim, Fallon and tourmate Dave Hause got down to basics with a Revival Tour-esque collaboration and their own sets.
Fresh off their new album, mewithoutYou will spend the post-holiday season playing some local shows. Saturday night saw the band at Johnny Brenda's for a very sold-out 21 and up show while tonight they'll be at the Church for another sold out show.

Ryan Bingham’s back-story is one that record executives pray, to whomever their God is, falls into their company’s lap.
Mom gave him his first guitar at 16; left a broken family behind on the ranch and oil fields shortly thereafter; tried his luck on the rodeo circuit; got face-stomped by a beast named Spanky.
Yes, it seems like he was only in the city yesterday playing the Trocadero with his legendary band but tonight Kevin Seconds returns to Philadelphia, this time with an acoustic guitar instead of the rest of 7 Seconds.
What: The closest thing we’ll get to an East coast Coachella is All Points West and this year’s festival is looking a little more varied than the 2008 edition. Instead of two nights with the same headliner, this year each night has multiple headliners. We’ve got the Jay-Z, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vampire Weekend, Heartless Bastards, Tool, Gogol Bordello, Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, MGMT, Silversun Pickups, Gaslight Anthem, Echo and the Bunnymen and a little band from across the pond called MY BLOODY VALENTINE.
Why wouldn’t you want to catch some of the best bands in the world with Lady Liberty in the background? Jersey City’s Liberty State Park is one of the most beautiful parks on the coast and is the perfect place to have the festival. Seriously, if you don’t go to this you’re 100% blowing it. Really.
Phrequency and McJawn Magazine hosted an EPIC block party yesterday in South Philly. Sunday, July 26th, 2009 will forever be remembered as the day these two websites collided and created a beautiful thing. The party went off without a hitch, even the pending thunderstorms held out, and everyone got to enjoy the sounds of some of Philly's best acts.
Still trying to look for that old Hüsker Dü 7”? Ever thought about getting rid of that old 8-track player (It’s vintage so it has to be good…right?) sitting in your basement collecting dust? Always wanted to pick up the guitar, but stuck with a budget of $25? Look no further than this summer’s Punk Rock Flea Market.
