Happy birthday Edgar Allen Poe! Well, kind of. In celebration for what would have been the master of the macabre’s 200th candle on the cake, Art in the Age opens the Tell-Tale Heart Exhibtion tonight with an opening reception at 6pm.
Philadelphia holds a special meaning to Poe fans, he lived in what is now Northern Liberties during 1843 and published The Tell-Tale Heart, The Fall of the House of Usher and The Gold Bug during his time here.
The exhibition features artwork inspired by Poe’s works and Poe himself. The artists featured were all chosen based on how creatively they imagined Poe’s portrait, a really cool idea to pick the most Poe-esque artists around.
Go see the Poe exhibit and then check out Terror Behind The Walls for the ultimate Halloween season day in Philadelphia.
Tell Tale Heart Exhibition. Opening reception, 10.2.09, starts at 6pm. Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction, 116 North 3rd. Exhibtion runs through 11.1.09. www.artintheage.com
