Every so often something comes across my desk (or more realistically into my inbox) that goes from being a random band playing somewhere to an almost life-altering discovery. Ladies and gentlemen, that band is Tape. All of the nights I’ve spent bored playing with my Brian Eno’s Bloom iPhone app were spent dreaming of sounds like Tape makes, an ethereal combination of lush acoustic textures and out-there electronic creations.

Nothing I could give you would be a better explanation than the description on the R5 site, who is hosting Tape at the Chapel at the Church tomorrow night with another great band sort of along the lines of Tape, Mountains.

“There are those special folks who just naturally have some preternatural ability to create majestic beauty without it ever sounding forced or contrived,” says the R5 site. “The Swedish trio Tape are shining examples of just such a group.”

Don’t sleep on this band.

Tape with Mountains, starts at 8pm. 2.9.10 at the First Unitarian Church Chapel, 2125 Chestnut Street. Tickets: $12. All ages.
