Until September 11th, The Leonard Pearlstein Gallery in the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design at Drexel University will be presenting Semiopticon, a gallery exhibition by Thomas Buildmore and Morgan Thomas of OverKill Studios in Boston.
Semiopticon is an installation directly installed on the walls of the Pearlstein Gallery, almost in a graffiti-esque fashion. The goal of the showing is to "transform the gallery into a sacred space," calling to mind the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel or prehistoric cave paintings. Buildmore and Thomas decided to only use black and white for their designs.
Both Buildmore and Thomas have exhibited in Boston, New York and Philadelphia in recent years, including Buildmore's recent participation in the "Cut Copy" exhibit at the T&P Fine Art Gallery.
The opening reception for Semiopticon will be tonight from 6 to 8 and the afterparty will be held at Triumph Brewing Company. Check it out and expand your mind.
Semiopticon: Exploring Semiotics, Sacred Ground and Street Art. Runs through September 11. Gallery hours: M-F from 11am-5pm. Free.
