Marco Benvento's latest release, Me Not Me sounds like he decided to put his own spin on some of his favorite songs from a mix CD he made for his car, as well as pepper in some originals.
The cover of My Morning Jacket's "Golden" has "always worked with this trio," says Benevento. The ethereal melody that drives the original song is still at front and center of Marco's cover, but the patient ebb and flow of pedal effects through his piano, as well as a solid pay off at the end are what makes the song an "original cover."
