Last night after the Bamboozle Road Show at the TLA, there was something of an event in the alley next to the venue where bands load and unload their gear.

The following is taken from the blog of JD Perry of Valencia (click the link for an interview with the band from late last year):

"This all occurred last night after the Bamboozle Road Show’s stop at the TLA. The bands pulled their van in the back alley to load out as the usual process, the South Street bike cops came through the alley, yelling at the bands to move their vans because they were not allowed to park. The bands asked the cops if they could have a few extra minutes so they could get all their gear out; cars rarely travel down that alley and there was no rush. The cops didn’t care and started writing a ticket for the parking violation. They made claims that the trailer tags were invalid and wanted to see proof of insurance but when the bands went to look for it, the cops replied “No time to wait, you’re getting a ticket anyway.” The bands were instructed to move so once they finished packing, they attempted to move the van, BUT they were given another ticket for a moving violation."

Four tickets were written and it upset Trevor (tour manager) so he tried to contest them and was arrested for what I’m assuming to be “obstruction of justice.” As they had him in handcuffs, Chris (who sells merch on the tour) tried to come outside to contest his arrest, he was yelled at to stay inside and in discussion the police lost patience and literally beat him back inside the door, then to the ground, and arrested him for “assaulting a police office” when he did not touch them nor gave them any incentive to think they were in danger. An office has the right to use force when he fears his own safety is in danger. A verbal argument is not justification to beat an innocent bystander with metal batons. After the cuffed him and picked him up, a large pool of blood was on the ground where his head was."

A video of the incident was posted on YouTube by user xoxbellaitaliana 21 and is embedded below.

We're currently working on getting more information and will report back when more details emerge.

i don't know, it really looks like he pushed the cop first from behind the door... either way.. this is what happens when huge egos clash.

the guy coming out of the door pushed the officer. YOU NEVER TOUCH THE POLICE. that is called asualt. i say the police handled things the way they should have, and DID not beat the guy bloody. he fell on a bottle, which busted his head.

It looked like the cop put the baton in the guys chest and when he went to push it out of the way the cop ripped him out and showed him what technical assault was all about. As well as why we should all wear those keen helmets. The law is the law and the Philly traffic system isn't gonna fund itself. End of story brother.

Bike cops on South Street acting like D-bags?!? That is hardly news. When the guys got arrested, did they have to sit on the cops' handlebars or did they put them in the basket?

I can't believe this is getting attention NOW, especially after what happened LESS THAN A YEAR AGO http://tinyurl.com/ckg3cs

Grow up. Act like humans. Contribute something to society other than whining and allegations of abuse. Stop using Mommy and Daddy's credit cards to buy your video cameras "that were broken, OH MY GOOOOD!!!!", show a true and valid example of abuse and THEN, and ONLY THEN, will the people who make a difference actually listen to you. If you stop running your over-priveleged, self-righteous, mouths, maybe you'd learn something... you don't get what you want all of the time. There are rules in place in this society and just because you don't agree with them (ie, it's an alley that there are rarely cars driving down so the no parking rule shouldn't apply to me!), you still have to abide by them. Until you become someone with some power and ability to change rules that you and your worthless "peers" feel shouldn't apply to them, shut the f up! Be mindful that you will reap what you sow however. There already is a class of people that feel that murder is justifiable if you look at someone the wrong way.... is this the battle that you choose? How about fall in line with the good guys and take their back instead of wasting their time with trivial nonsense from spoiled suburban white kids..... just my thoughts....

Looks to me like the cop was shoved. Then the videographer is prejudicing the video by commenting on things she can apparently see behind a closed door. You never push a cop, bottom line. Cops acted correctly.

It is complete uand utter horse s*** to say there way not police brutality!!! Take a look at THIS video and then you try to explain how 30 stitches and 14 staples to the head does not consitute brulaity for someone who had their arms behind their back!! http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=38272569&blogId=485735033 Maybe this newpaper source should try to work off all of the facts instead of just looking for a quick "buzz worthy" story to bump readership.

I find it funny how people complain when minorities are ruoughed up while resisting and the problem is always about race relations between police and civilians. In this case, the "victims" are white and people are complaining that the police "have nothing better to do" than beat roadies on South st while crime "runs rampant" around the city. Make up your minds people. when you are ordered to stop, STOP. Don't try to argue your civil liberties. Dude resisted. The guy in the door got off easy for even raising his hands. The female with the camera should have gone for Disorderly because her "words and actions were causing a larger crowd to form and creating a hazardous situation for police and civilians alike". People are getting away with murder because the guilty are using the hyper liberal arguments of the foolish to get over. I am a liberal by the way. And a black officer.

What? My post from early this morning don't make the cut? I guess the truth hurts when it comes from a pro-police side

You know that no matter what, this will all go away under the rug. Yet, since my last post was not posted, I highly doubt this one will either. "Let's not let anyone know what REALLY goes on in Philly!"
