No...the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith need to retire. When your music is on oldies stations, it's time. The last 2 Green Day albums have brought real punk rock to a new level. Hopefully, they'll inspire new waves of punk bands, and maybe a Philadelphia radio station will give punk its due.

Retire? Something that could have only been suggested by someone who is not a Green day fan to begin with. The Stones and Aerosmith need to retire not because their old stuff is on oldies stations, but because they haven't produced anything good in many years. That couldn't be more UN-true of Green Day. This is a band that has reinvigorated rock as a whole and punk in particular by being constantly original, energetic, intelligent, and genuine. They are at the height of their powers and their last two albums are unparalleled in all of these regards. And on top of that, Green Day knows what it is to give a real, old-school show to their fans. They played a full-tilt 2.5 hour set amid a tour that has them doing a show in a different city 5 or 6 nights a week for 5 months straight. A truly phenomenal show by a truly phenomenal band.

they are far from retiring. their energy last night was like no other concert that i have ever seen, and i have seen a lot! they do know how to put on a show and give people their money's worth. and they thanked the fans repeatedly. they know we have made them rich men, but their awesome, powerful show last night proved to me that they have serious staying-power. viva la greenday!

That set list is not quite right...the encore did not include "Restless heart Syndrome". The song Billie played was "Words I Might Have Ate". An oldie but goodie.
