Rittenhouse Row Spring Festival
» More Festival Round-up: 4 awesome festivals going on this weekend
On Monday, May 28th, Tori Lawrence + Co. will be performing their dance installation, Awakened Ruins, inside the Light Court at the opening of The Barnes Foundation. Awakened Ruins was originally created and performed inside the historic Founder’s Hall on Girard College’s campus. It premiered in the 2011 Philly Fringe Festival. Tori Lawrence and her dancers, Emily Herchenroether, Tina Knipp, Ashley Lippolis, and Pamela Vail embody the crumbling surfaces of decaying buildings through their unique costumes and movement. The dancers, fully coated in uneven patches of dried, clay-like material, become these forgotten spaces. Violinist, Christopher Brooks, and pianist, Patrick Fink, assist the audience in experiencing a journey through space and sound. Admissions is free, but tickets can be reserved in advance here.

Summer is right around the corner. We decided to venture outside to see how everyone is welcoming the gorgeous weather.

Next month, Grizzly Grizzly will present ‘Inside Space’, a two-person exhibition that will bring together; John Chwekun and Mark Sengbusch. Each artist will investigate ideas of structured space. John Chwekun will do so through his small-scale objects, while Mark Sengbusch will use his graphic paintings. The diversity in size range will introduce unexpected variety into a dialog between two artists who share an interest in repetition and unity.
With so many food festivals coming up, we couldn’t forget to mention the return of the 9th Street Italian Market Festival.
The mobile-biz brainchild of childhood friends Joe Cohen and Mike Neal, Gozen Yogurt is Philly's first self-serve froyo truck, traveling the city in a retro-fitted military vehicle. The business started back in October 2011, with Gozen setting up shop at various events and festivals. Once the weather got cold, they closed for the winter, reopening three weeks ago for spring. Now Gozen stations itself at several locations in town — Love Park Mondays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at 33rd and Arch Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. The weigh-and-pay truck serves eight flavors at a time, with numerous toppings options; chocolate, vanilla and original tart are staple flavors, with the other five rotating biweekly. Lately, they've been offering cookies and cream, cake batter and blueberry acai tart. They also feature special seasonal flavors (think pumpkin or berry sorbet). Follow them on twitter at @GozenYogurt or peep their website for menu updates, locations and news.
