Thorns of Life?
There’s a big rumor going around Philadelphia that only a few choice people may know about.
Ever hear of Blake Schwarzenbach? Schwarzenbach, singer of Jawbreaker and Jets to Brazil has done many things in his life like teaching English at Hunter College in New York City, writing reviews for Gamespot.com and oh yeah, fronted two of the most influential bands of the past 20 years.
Last month, Schwarzenbach revealed he’d been working on new music with drummerAaron Cometbus (formerly of Crimpshrine and the head of Cometbus Fanzine) and bassist Daniela Sea who’s best known for her role on Showtime’s “The L Word.”
After a few blogged about shows in Brooklyn, the band had a name: The Thorns of Life.
A post on Philadelphia message board Centerfuse by Andy Nelson said nothing but “Stay Tuned For A Very Fun And Exciting Philadelphia Punk Show Announcement,” before announcing that fliers were posted on South Street.
Later details were announced that the show would be at Disgraceland at 8pm on Saturday night, and due to detective work by posters, it was all but revealed that The Thorns of Life would be playing.
Don’t know where Disgraceland is? Ask someone in the know. It’s a secret for a reason.
